Travelling over night on our first cama suite (bed bus) we arrived in Buenos Aires and headed for the barrio of San Telmo. It was a Sunday and Election Day to boot and apart from the bustling little craft market on Plaza Dorrego, the city was fairly quiet. We wandered downtown and saw the Plaze de Mayo and Evitas balcony on the Casa Rosada and took a walk up Florida street, one of the main shopping thoroughfare.
We took an early evening stroll along the renovated dock side with its fine restaurants nestled between the ubiquitous TGI Fridays and Hoters. Reaching BA seemed a bit of a landmark on our travels and as we sat with a celebratory bottle of champagne we tried to look the part amongst the yachts moored in the harbour. We headed over to Plermo Viejo for dinner and sitting amongst the lively restaurants and street performers we decided this atmospheric corner of the city would be where we would stay on our return.
A day of jobs the next day organising tickets for Creamfields and our boat to Uruaguay, as we were keen to get out of the city and onto the beach.
