Hello Guys,
Just thought we would update you as we got into Pai yesterday and the weather has been scorching but has just started to rain so not much else to do other than chill out. We got a minibus from Chiang Mai to Pai which took approx 2 1/2 hrs, the drive to Pai was awful especially if you had a driver like ours. The drive is known to be quite scary anyway because of the winding roads to get to the valley but our driver was an absolue lunatic, overtaking round bends and allsorts. When we arrived we loved it straight away and could happily live out here. It is so hippiesh and loads of smellies but cool place. We stayed at Breeze of Pai last night which was very nice, comfy, hot water and clean beds but we found another one which was much better for about a quid more which is called Wang Chueng Puek Pai. The family who run it are dead nice and the woman speaks very good English too. So we are staying there tonight.
Last night was good, we went for an Italian recommended by Lonely Planet called Amido's, food was lovely and atmosphere was relaxed in open air surroundings. After that we went to a place called Shisha's Bar which was brilliant and Jim the English fella that owned it made us feel very welcome. We sat with his crowd and ordered one of the infamous Shisha's, we had strawberry flavour but had a little taste of licorice. It took us all night just to smoke one so we shared it with this Aussie couple we met from Adelaide (Steve & Christy), hello if you take a look. After Jim trying to persuade us to come and party with his gang we decided to give it a miss and went home instead as we had a Thai massage planned for today. On the way home we bumped into John from the Trek and sat with them for a bit so walked home feeling a little bit tipsy and spots a bike which i got on and rode down the hill. I then tried to give Jonjo a takey but couldn't even get moving so then he had a go and broke the chain. Hope we haven't done to much damage to someone's bike sorry ha ha
Today we have been for a Thai massage, again a recommendation of Lonely Planet called Pai Traditional Thai Massage (PTTM) was well worth the 4 quid each and we also had a medicinal sauna which has helped with Jonjo's cold.
So that is all we have been up to really, just up here to chill out and what a place it is to do just that. If anyone reading this is thinking of going to Thailand then Pai is a must see place. Cheaper than Chiang Mai and Bangkok and accomodation is better value for money.
Just gonna go back to our lovely wooden hut by the river and read or sleep, will update some pics tomorrow for you to look at.
See ya
Emma & Jonjo xx
