After our amazing time in Bali we flew into Singapore for a 1 day stopover before catching our flight to Oz. We arrived around 1am and jumped a cab to our hotel which was in the middle of a red light district but not too bothered as we are used to them by now. It did mention it on the website but it was fine as we were only staying there 1 day anyway.
We got up in the morning still tired and checked out of the hotel as it was touching midday so left our luggage in the storage room and set out to explore a little bit of Singapore for the day. We jumped on the MRT which is brill as they are so quick and efficient and always on time, we headed down the famous Orchard Rd and were suddenly hit by all this Christmas spirit. Everywhere you looked there were Christmas trees and decorations it was great especially for us 2 big kids who love Christmas anyway, our feet started to ache so next stop was Raffles Hotel (home of the Singapore Sling)...... When we arrived at Raffles it was raining so we stepped into the Long Bar for a drink, we were really suprised at it to be honest as there were pigeons everywhere and there are bowls of cashewnuts on all the tables so there were nut shells all over the floor too (not what we would have expected from the world famous Raffles). None the less the sipped our Singapore slings and it was gorgeous, well worth the 6 quid each anyway.
We then headed to Little India which reminded me of Georgetown, not really much to do there apart from a temple and we missed the other temple in Chinatown as it was closed so we headed back to hotel and got ready to catch our flight to Oz. Not enough time in Singapore really but maybe next time.
