Friday 4pm.
Now in Kaikoura, a town famous for Crayfish, Whale and Dolphin watching, apart from that there is not that much here, we arrived at 12, in time for people to go on the trips to see Whales and Dolphins, you can even swim with them if you want, didn't really appeal to me, so another free afternoon really. I think that a disaster may be on the way - my hair straigteners have started cutting out, think there must be a short in the cable as if i hold it in one position they work!
Tuesday afternoon in Christchurch i did a load of washing after wrote to you, hadn't done any for 10 days or more, didn't have any clean clothes left, it felt so good knowing all my clothes were clean!!! Dryers are amazing, 50mins and everything is dry, i don't think anything shrunk.
Wednesday, my free day, got up at 8.30, a luxery, sat in kitchen having breakfast and reading my book then ventured outside just gone 10, did the Cathedral (about half the size of truro) and the museum. When went in Cathedral a service was starting, stayed for about 10 min but a bit too high church for us mum! Museam was really interesting, walked a bit of the Gardens as well, the morning was really warm but after lunch it clouded over so i went back to hostel for a nap! Had an evening in watching a couple of films in the tv room which was nice.
Yesterday did the Tranz Alpine, glad i did it, a good day so got some nice photos, not sure it was worth 75quid tho, i guess they can charge what they want with its reputation, on the way back i spent most of the time on the viewing deck instead of the carriage, so could get better photos, when went to the loo, i realised i looked like had been down a coal mine, as did everyone else outside, luckily had wet-wipes with me, had to have a shower when back at hostel as hair was black with soot! The trip was about 4 hours each way, with an hours stop in Greymouth, where i made a trip to the supermarket as been there already. Walked back from the train station rather than get the bus as it meant i got to walk through the gardens and park i hadn't yet seen, took an hour but was a nice evening.
thats all for now i think, getting ferry back to North Island tomorrow, because of the days the buses are running i'm spending more time overall on the north island, should be warmer up there, although it is actually okay here now.
Happy Birthday Dad
