Tuesday 7pm
Now in Nelson, stayed here last night and tonight so could do the day trip to Abel Tasman National Park, got picked up at 7 this morning, then a bus to the Park, then a hour and half boat trip, they then dropped us off on a beach and we had to walk the 11km back, not sure how many miles that is, glad i did it, it took us just over 4 hours to get back, weather was good for walking, starting raining just as we got near the end. Took some photos but they don't do the place justice, apparantly the light here is bad for taking photos.
Sunday was a long day, left Taupo early, then most of the day in the bus down to Wellington, went from Cow Country to Sheep to Logging, now in the south in wine country and went through acres and acres of apple trees on the way to the park today, also orange trees, blackcurrents that they make Ribenna from and Hops. On Sundays Journey down we stopped for photos of Tongariro National Park and Mt Doom. Stopped for an ice cream which was really nice. Once in Wellington we drove up to the top of mount victoria fo photos then to the hostel which was a bit of a dump but close to the ferry terminal. Got the tram up to the Botanic Gardens then walked back down. Sat on the waterfront and had cup of tea on the front, then 3 of us decided to splash out and go out for a meal seeing as in the Capital. We ended up in a Thai restaurant!! It was actually ok, i had Tempura Veg for starter then Chicken fried rice for main which isn't too foreign, passed on the desserts as they were just odd. For a capital city Wellington is very quiet.
Yesterday morning got the Ferry accros to the South Island, was a really nice warm day, trip took 3 hours, then the bus down to here, Nelson, got in about 3.30, this Hostel is a lot nicer. Walked around town for a bit, then walked up the hill to the "geographical centre of New Zealand" was a bit of a hike but nice views of the port from the top.
