Teaching time in Shanghai
"That one please" as I pointed at Wing Chun on the list of martial arts as if I was picking an ice-cream. "Have you done it before?" as he looked Beth and I up and down "Nope!" Well, the reaction on his face told us it wasn't going to be a walk in the park!
"I feel like an idiot… Dammit!" said Beth as we tried to copy the stretches of our trainer, Diego and well it didn't improve from there.
' I know you're trying to be all mystical and Kung Fu-ey, but… '
Beth had lost her balance and fallen on the floor with only one trainer on, as I tried to copy the other two men with their moves. I looked in the mirror and what I thought was elegant, snake flowing arms were indeed the arms of two tree trunks, certainly flowing nowhere!
' he was so deadly, in fact, that his enemies would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness… '
2 hours later, our moves would certainly scare someone (perhaps not it in a good way!) I ached after discovering my legs could go in positions I did not know were possible, my arms felt bruised and hands sore after whacking and 'fighting' with Beth and my stomach feeling solid after what I'd like to say was an intense work out, instead it was from intense laughing fits!
I'm not too sure how much we're going to learn, considering we were in an advanced (!) class but we both left strangely satisfied and looking forward to next week!
' a goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at… ' Bruce Lee
