Hello again from Quito. Today we went exploring round the old town of Quito with Brent as our tour guide. It´s great having someone who knows the place to show us round. We went to la Basilica and went right up to the top of the belfry. We had a fantastic view of Quito. I cant get over how massive it is. It´s 8km wide and 50 to 70km depending on who you talk to´. Then we walked around more and went to la plaza de la Independencia where all the government buildings are. We also went to a market.
The keyboard here is really frustrating. The keys aren´t aligned properly so I can´t put in any exclamation marks etc. At the moment it´s raining so we thought we´d make the most of it and come to the internet cafe. Uploading photos has proven to be extremely slow and I can only do one at a time and it takes about 5mins. So I´ll see how many I can do before the computer crashes...
Old Quito is so much nicer than the new part. There are so may people here though and so much noise. The pollution is shocking and all the drivers absolutely love their horns. Crossing the road is like dicing with death. Nobody obeys any of the road laws by the looks of things.
Anyway, we´re all packed now and ready to make our way to the hotel so we´ll be going there soon to meet theother people on our tour. I can´t say I´m going to miss Quito much....there´s not really a lot to see. There´s even a McDonald´s, KFC, Dominos and TGI Fridays...can´t escape those anywhere. I´ve managed to catch the sun too. It´s weird how changeable the weather is here...one minute itçs beautiful and sunny and the next it´s pouring with rain.
So that´s all for today I think...I´ll try uploading more photos. I miss you all loads xxxxxxxxxxx
