I´ve had the most amazing last few days! We went to the Amazon rainforest and stayed ina jungle lodge. It was sooo good! We saw monkeys, lizards, lots of birds. We even went pirahna fishing one day and swam in the same lake! Apparently pirahnas will only go for you if you´re bleeding though so it was ok! We also did kayaking races across the lake which was a laugh. The food was amazing too...we had a cooked breakfast every morning and a three course meal for lunch and dinner then went for cocktails at the bar in the evening! The lodges were so nice too...the only bad thing was the insects but even that wasn´t too bad. We went on a little night walk one night and saw these hideous scorpion spiders and yes, a real life tarantula. Horrible!!! We also visited a Kichuan family in their house and painted our faces using a plant. There´s so much to tell I can´t write it all on here...it´s all in my journal so I´ll probably edit all my blog entries once I get home and have more time!
We spent the last couple of days in Baños which is a really nice place. Getting out of the jungle involved a canoe trip, a little walk, then a 2 hour boat ride, an internal flight and then a 6 hour bus ride to Baños on a public bus. The ride to Baños was beautiful though...we went past a volcano that was activ! There was a massive cloud of ash coming out of it! Our first night in Baños was spent just chilling out and we went for dinner at this nice restaurant which had a lot of character! Jenny and I scored the massive room which we were pleased about! Then Friday was Vicky´s birthday! Got up all together for a cooked breakfast and then some of us went canyoning! It was really good but so so cold! We were abseiling down 5 waterfalls and each one got bigger as we went down. We got back around 4 and showered and took a wander round Baños. Then at 6 we went to the hot baths. It was so nice but the water was boiling! 50 degrees C!!! The water flows from the volcano and they have to cool it down for these baths but it was still so hot! After that we all went back to the hotel and got ready to go out. We all dressed up and put on make up (well the girls did)! It was so nice to feel vaguely attractive again!! So we went for dinner, had birthday cake and went to the Leprechaun bar for drinks and danced all night cutting shapes and showing the Ecuadorians what real dancing is hahaha! Got back to the hotel around 3.30am and had to get upearly to get the bus to Cuenca where I am right now! We went to the Panama hat museum this morning. This is where they´re all made and then they get exported to the rest of the world. We tried loads on. I have so many pictures but my camera´s run out of battery because it takes so long to upload them so I´ll upload the remainder of my Quito photos and jungle photos whenever I can!
Today is our last day in Ecuador and tomorrow we´re travelling to Peru at 5am. We´re going to Mancora to the beach to tan ourselves up and go surfing. Can´t wait!!!
