Today was huge. I almost missed my plane because I thought I'd set my alarm for 6am but I hadn't, so I woke up at 7am when we were supposed to be out the door. I got dressed and packed up half my stuff in twenty five minutes and got to the airport only like, quarter of an hour before we boarded. DRAMA.
But never mind, I made it in the end and Rome is amazing! Amedeo's nephew Andrea met me at the airport and drove me to my hostel, which is really nice and 100% clean and tidy. I'm sharing a room with a girl called Jodi from Australia and an empty bunk, but I'm sure that will change tomorrow. When I got in and settled, I went out for a wander which ended up being six hours of general awesomeness, including a visit to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Capitoline Hill. I saw the Arch of Constantine (it was a 'Titanic Pencil Moment' for sure), the Arch of Titus, the Arch of Septimius Severus, Trajan's Column, and a whole bunch of other really old stuff which was fab. I would upload all my photos, but in my hurry to get packed up this morning I managed to not put in my carema cord, so I'm going to try and buy one tomorrow, otherwise my camera memory will fill up - I took 170 photos today alone, and I only started at lunch time!
Anyway, now I am totally exhausted and my feet hurt so badly (go Ella, wearing new shoes for a huge day of walking). I've met a few new people in the hostel - Jodi the Australian, some eighteen year old guy from the States who's name I've already forgotten, and another girl from Scotland, also nameless. They asked me if I wanted to go out tonight, but I think I will have to just sleep and never wake up.
Hopefully the photos will be up tomorrow!
