Well Hellllooooo Mr President. Cha ching.. And the drinks are on me.. "... In the famous words of Joey Tribiani..
Washington DC, home town of Obama and Michelle.. Yippeeeeeee.. However, two day car drive was inbetween us and Barms!
We started our evening drive from Chicago down through Ohio, stopping a couple of times as they ripped us off for driving through their state with the bloody tolls! We stopped at the border of Ohio for a kip over before heading to Pittsburg, Pensylivannia for the day.
Pittsburg was quite a funky city, not my favourite place in the world and has about twenty bridges just to get into the city.. Bit greedy there I think!! After Pittsburg we headed South to stop at a hotel close to washington. This stop was a pamper session that was much needed.. We planned to paint our nails, pluck our eye brows, shave our legs, dye josie's hair (as the roots were getting unbareable to look at) and chill the hell out! I managed to complete all the to do's on my list (you know how I love my to do's Len).. However, Josie managed to dye her hair before falling asleep.. After watching friends, I fell asleep to a peaceful nights sleep with no interruptions.. Bang tidy!!
Woke feeling fresher and ready hit DC with a vengeance! Arrived about midday, checked in and went to explore the lovely capital of America! We walked and walked attempting to find the White house, while a blonde moment of mine strikes again.. "so, is the White house actually White?" ... Yes, I am very embarrassed about this. But I don't know do I!! We finally found it and my gosh, Obama is a lucky fella! It's massive and so so pretty! We seem some other statues, couldn't tell you what they meant and a bank that looked like out of Mary Poppins.. And I was probably most interested in that. Is that bad?
We walked around his back garden and we were having some snaps, then we all had to be removed from the area as he was coming out to do a speech in his back garden to loads of people. I can officially say I've heard Obama's voice in real life and not the telly.. Impressed? I thought so!
We then went for a walk to see the Washington Monument Tower, as seen in lots of films (according to Josie).. Before heading to 7th St for our first beverage of the evening. Also, in between visiting mr president and beer, we did a spot of winter retail therapy, picked my date outfit for NYC.. And picked some clothes that will actually keep me warm now winter has arrived in USA! Boohoo!! Tan will be fading fast until Aus!!
Night time arrived and we hit up Adams Morgan. A guy working in the place were staying invited us to the bar he had been working in called Reef. So headed there for a couple before visiting another quite country club where the alcohol sunk in. Met a cool group of guys from Boston, who were extremely over excitable about our road trip, and Ryan (one of their names) has offered to show us around Boston when were there.. Not sure we'll take him up on that offer, but we will see! Chucking out time came, and we headed back in a taxi for a bright and early rise!
Morning, Morning... Today in DC can only mean one thing.. GEEK Liz is coming out to play! David Attenborough would be proud as I was stupidly excited to go and visit the natural history museum.. And I'm not ashamed to say that I loved every minute!! We had a bit of confusion between what a tortoise and turtle was but I think I cleared it up to Josie, although we are still not 100% sure, so any feedback would be appreciated! We then were going to visit the crime museum, but we couldn't find it and were both peckish and had hurting feet so got munch and headed back home!
This afternoon consisted of showing the cute Kevin, The Inbetweeners clips, so so funny.. And catching up on Dexter, America's Next Top Model All Stars, which is AMAZING and Celebrity Juice.. Also hilarious!! About midnight, Kevin came back home from his class and set up Dexter, Season 6!!!! on the big screen.. We watched this before hitting the sack!
Morning arrived and today we leave DC.. but a very productive morning with our Australian visa's officially being approved!... I'm coming back on a mission to find a job and never leave..
Hitting Tracy Turnblad and Baltimore for visits today before heading east (I believe)
Catch y'all in a while
