So what is one do on the final day of a three week European extravaganza? Head back to Copenhagen and visit with friends of course!
Kevin is going to school in Lund, Sweden which is only a 40 minute train ride to Copenhagen, Denmark. So with one night left, friends across the bay and an early flight the next the morning... Well it just made sense for the two of us to head on over to another country. We roll international style baby!
Kevin and I arrived about noon and luckily were able to check into the hotel early. We got out our rain gear to deal with the grey skies and struck out onto the mean streets. In reality the streets weren't very mean today, they were actually quite jubilant - it was Gay Pride day! So the streets were packed with queens and kings in all shapes, sizes and wig colours. A little rain can't keep a good queen down!
We also had a mission to get some new guitar strings for Kevin's flea market guitar. So with google map in hand with easily found it. And I managed a bit of a tour along the way showing Kevin the town square, parliament and the stork fountain. Then we caught a wee bit of the parade on our way to meet Christina and Lasse!!! Whoop whoop! Yes, my beautiful Danish friends were available for one last hangout and Lasse bravely battled the Pride traffic to be there too. I was excited for Kevin, Christina and Lasse to all meet - a worlds colliding kind of deal. Priority #1 for all of us was food, so we just headed directly to the best burger joint in town, Halifax! Yes, the same one from my first week. But hey, when I find something I like, I'm not afraid to beat it to death. And I wanted Kevin to try the food too. Sooooo good.
By the time the meal was done the rain had picked up a bit so we stopped into a nearby store for an umbrella. However, 'Tiger' is actually a store filled with wonderful amounts of both incredibly useful and totally useless knick knacks. So we all took a few minutes to browse. Kevin got some school supplies and I ended up with a knife holder and a cheese cutter. Random, but awesome. And then it was time for beer, so the four of us found a place with a cheap pint. When that round was done we thought we try a beer garden nearby and someone there had win a contest for all you can drink beer and so we got a couple free pints there as well. Needless to say, my peoples all got along well and we had a very fun night.
But then Christina and Lasse had to head home so we said our very sad 'see you laters' with many awesome never ending hugs. To drown my sorrows, Kevin and I had one last beer and then headed back to our Star Trek looking hotel room. Seriously, the shower was pretty much in the same room that we slept in. Slick! And there was one last surprise, and the Pride fireworks set off around 11. Luckily, our window had a perfect view. It was almost like the city was sending me off in style.
But ooooh how tomorrow is gonna suck.
