Another day, another adventure.
Yesterday was pretty chill and we were up early to clean the summer house and pack up. By 11:30 we were at Christina and Lasse's apartment in Køge (a suburb of Copenhagen). We spent the afternoon watching all the YouTube videos we had been discussing for the last few days. These are the people that introduced me to Narwhals and What What in the Butt many years ago, so sharing the internet favourites was a must.
Then Christina and I headed to the supermarket for dinner stuffs and we whipped up burrito happiness. We even found some vegetarian soy taco mix for lil ol' me. Tofu is a speciality around these parts, so finding veggie taco mix was a surprise actually. And we finished off our eve with another couple rounds of cards.
And today began our tourist adventures to Copenhagen! And my friends didn't just leave me to do it, they wanted to be tourists as well, which is of course awesome. Christina works at an amusement park in the middle of town, so we borrowed parking from them and started wandering town. Hit up the shopping streets, town hall and all the squares and fountains in between.
Our stroll ended up at Nyhavn (New Harbour) and from here we all took a canal cruise. It was awesome to get a waterfront view of this lovely old city. It's a great mix of new buildings (like the library known as the black diamond) and the medieval (a church that was originally a house of satan worship). And of course we also saw the Little Mermaid statue and other iconic must dos.
By this time we were starving and headed over to the Original Halifax, the most awesome burger joint in history! You basically build your own burger and they have two veggie options, which was lovely. Mine had mushrooms, pickled cucumbers, goat cheese, aoli and a rösti on top (potato pancake), and for the side dish I went with mashed potatoes which was utterly fabulous.
But the show that came with the meal was a almost equally impressive. There was a hipster bar across the street that provided much enjoyment. And also many questions.... like, chick or dude? So Lasse and I taught Christina about the Adam's apple. Apparently she never knew it was just a dude thing and she was quite fascinated by the whole protruding body part. And she kept poking Lasse's apple like it was a toy. I couldn't stop laughing.
And then back home to Køge for hanging, doggie walks and yes, more damn candy. They are going to have to roll me out of here.
