So yesterday I got up about 9:30am and had breakfast at the awesome buffet with Mum and Dad. The plan for the day was to hit the Mariotts beach, so after breakie we got our stuff together. Having looked on Google maps there appeared to be surf, and brought my board along in anticipation of getting some sort of waves
It turned out to be a really nice beach, and right on the Black Stone reef surf spot, couldn't be more perfect! It was a beautiful sunny day, so I left Mum and Dad on the sun loungers and went surfing for a couple of hours.
It was good fun and I got a few alright ones, but unfortunately the higher the tide got the smaller the surf got.
I came back in and we had Caesar Salads for lunch, then I read my book in the sun for a couple of hours, while the parents went swimming etc. We decided we wanted to go to Uluwatu Temple in the evening to watch the dancing and see the temple, and had to be there by 6pm. We left the beach and went back to the hotel to get showered etc, then took a taxi for about half an hour to the Temple.
Having put on Sarongs Etc to be able to go into the temple, we went straight to the dancing/acting 'arena'. It was absolutely packed with tourists (many of which being Japs with big cameras), but we managed to squeeze on to the steps/seats just before it all began.
How much of the performance is actually traditional culture and how much is just a show for tourists to come and see remains to be seen, but it was fun and a good show all the same. Having watched the show, just before it got dark, we had a quick wander around the temple and saw the monkeys etc. Considering how much chat I have heard about Uluwatu Temple there didn't seem to be all that much to it, but there we go.
Afterwards we got the taxi back to the hotel, had dinner and chatted for a while, and went to bed all pretty tired and sun kissed.
