Today we headed to the Trastevere. Crossing the Tiber opens another, rougher, side of Rome. Seedier is unkind as it really does have its own charm. We really enjoyed the streets and churches of the authentic Roman neighborhood. The area of old Rome was settled by immigrants to Rome (spelled 'conquered') whom were not pure enough to truly be 'Romans.'
When finished in the Travstevere, we headed north past the Vatican as we also began a search for certain specific gifts to bring home with us. We never did find it but we managed to swing by the Castle Sant Angelo to pick up Roma Passes to aid in our future sightseeing travels. Again, the iPad proved handy in helping us find outer way home after close to six miles of walking. We then dropped by one of our favorite places for an early dinner, and to be served by a character of a waiter named Elvis.
