We arrived in the Gold Coast to warm sunny weather.. The sun shining which was a plus after the tropical rain showers in cairns (didn't do wonders for our hair). We headed to our first hostel in surfers paradise..Wasn't exactly a paradise.. A rather built up city that was slightly on the tacky side - I mean shopping was good but still haha! We only ended up staying there one night and booked our greyhound bus down to byron bay the next morning! Arriving in byron....

The day before arriving in Brisbane we were up again at 6:45am to commence the long 8 hour bus journey back to Christchurch airport, which we slept most of the way. Our bus got into the airport at 4:30pm and our flight wasn't until 6:35am the next day! This left us with 14 hours to kill, let's just say there is nothing to do at this airport and no where comfortable to sleep. Well where to begin.. I know we haven't updated the blog in a while however I do have a little excuse as I kind of broke my iphone and it took a while to get it fixed! We arrived in rainforest central cairns on the 4th may and decided to stay in gilligans for our first night as it had been recommended, however when we got into the room it smelt all damp and felt all sticky (even through the crappy air con was on). We can't complain that much as its a party hostel...
