Still in Torevieja, Lizzie has gone to Scotland for five days to help Kate who is preparing for child birth. So I'm having a taste of being a single parent, not easy…makes me feel a bit guilty for being such an arse for mum when I was growing up! Saying that so far so good and of course being only 5 days I can spoil and bribe the kids in a way that I couldn't if I had them all the time… So today we're going out for ice cream!!! The weather has taken a turn for the worse we had sustained 20 knot plus winds yesterday peeking last night with gusts up to 34 knots! And torrential rain! we have been making progress on boat jobs and are just about ready to head off, the other jobs can wait till Barcelona. We're hoping to get lucky with the weather and get an opportunity to get north. The prevailing wind is North Easterly so it might take us a while but hopefully we'll manage it inside of two weeks!Liz here now! Yes I did return to Scotland and Kate did have her baby at home as she wanted (baby Freya - 7lb 1 and gorgeous)! Congratulations to Kate Neil and Ruairidh, and what an amazing experience for me! I also caught up with friends and family - albeit briefly - which was lovely. While John and the girls binged on sweets through a patch of bad weather I froze in Scotland and missed the daylight and hot sun. I also got a reminder of what a relaxed life we are having at the moment and am feeling very lucky. Our life here seems to go at a slower pace, and has hardly any time contraints, and we both get to enjoy the girls as well as having time to read, explore new places, …… (john does enjoy the girls - whatever he says!)As John said - the boat is nearly ready to go, which is good as we are all keen to be getting on now. Torrevieja has been convenient and we have met some lovely people here (even people who make chocolate cake for the girls!!!! Thanks Glenis) but we all feel that we would rather winter in Barcelona - even though everyone seems to get pickpocketed there! We have done well here as far as boat jobs go, as well as the windlass we now have solar panels installed and lots of other fiddly little jobs done. We have ordered new diesel tanks as well as repairing the old ones again, and after trying in vain to repair it we have ordered a new halyard swivel (something that helps the front sail go in and out for those who are not sailors!) The endless list of boat jobs is still quite big, but it feels that we are nearly past the firefighting stage - if we could just get the autohelm to work!! We are close to giving up and having to shell out for a new one, but not quite there yet!So if you could all hope for some Southwesterly winds, about 15 knots, for Sunday for a week or so that would be great! Thanks
