Tower of London - I did the free Beefeaters tour which walk you to different spots and give a small talk on the history. The beefeaters, the guards at the Tower, actually live at the Tower and to become a Beefeater you have to had served in the army for a certain amount of time, i think it was about 15 years, and also have done other good things for your country. In principle they are responsible for looking after any prisoners at the Tower and safeguarding the British crown jewels, but in practice they act as tour guides. There are 12 of them and their offical name is Yeomen Warders.
Within the tower there is the Valut where the Crown Jewels are kept. There were many crowns on display along with robes, serving dishes used at feats etc. It was quite cool how these have been around for so long and still used these days for different royal ceremonies. You can visit the cells where prisoners were kept and have carved symbols into the walls, and where executions and torturing took place.
From the Tower i caught the tube to Liverpool St, checked out the Spitalfield Makets again but they were closing up. Met up with Meg after work and had a drink with her and some work collegues before heading to Brick Lane for Indian. People come from all over London to Brick Lane for the Indian.. and I would agree it is top Indian! Walking down the street was what i imagine it to be like in India with guys out the front trying to get you to come in "i give you discount", "25% off just for you". one guy even claimed to give " worst indian food in London". Not sure where he was going with that.
