G'day Guys,
Its been a quieter few days. We were suppose to be heading off to Melbourne on Friday but me and Milsy had the ultimate of School Boys! We both tried to take too much money out of our accounts (to purchase the car), and because Barclays thought the cards had been stolen we were unable to withdraw anything. So since Friday morning we have been well and truly scint! If either me or Milsy had been on our own, we would of had to park up next to the tramp around the corner and share his blanket! But luckily Roomy (whos with HSBC) saved the day so we've been borrowing money from him. Il pay him back...eventually! It all came to a head this morning when unbeknown to me (whilst I was enjoying a little dream) the receptionist from the hostel came into our room, woke Roomy and Milsy up and told them that we needed to leave the room immediately because our 'comfy' beds had just been sold to three Germans! The mood we were in (from having no money) that was never going to happen. So after a bit of ranting and raving, it all got sorted. We're all paid up till Monday morning now.
Anyways before all that drama, we had a bit of a legendary night on Thursday. After a pretty quiet day, we decided to go to 'The Gaff' for some dinner. Basically for all backpackers this place gives you a free meal if you buy a drink for 4 dollars (which is under 2 quid) so with empty grumbling stomachs we were definately up for some of that action. Roomy decided to stay in and hit the sack (it was only 7pm). So me and Milsy went out hand in hand (joke!) to sample the Gaffs fine cuisine. The Gaff has two floors; when you walk in you see the bar and a fair few tables for people to eat (which is where we were positioned). Downstairs is a nightclub and it just so happened that on this night there was a massive xmas party going on for all people who rent property from this particular company. Even though we were dressed in hoodys and did not look the part at all (probably hummed a bit too), we were more than keen to get down there! Trust me, there was definately a few dozen future wives down there for me :-). So after the food (which was awesome) it was time to try and chirps up the woman who was on the door taking these tickets off people. Again somehow I managed to pull it off...it wasn't even that much of a challenge. What made it even better was that at this party it was free drinks before 8.30pm. So we had all of twenty minutes to get as much drink as possible (plus we only had ten dollars between us). It was genuinely a great team effort, by the time the bell went that finished free drinks we had managed to get hold of 6 glasses of white wine and 4 pints! The wine was horrid but it had to go down. So it all turned into a very cheap night out. After lots more bad dancing and poor decision making it was time to head home. But I did meet someone who lives down Hills Road and went to Netherhall (for all you that know Cambridge) which was pretty strange. But she always ventures up Fez instead of Ballare...what a crazy girl! Its rubbish in Fez. Its nothing compared to those golden steps.
Today (Saturday) we headed down to Hyde Park to play a bit of footy. Surprisingly the skills were all still intact. I had to sort out my bank today too (so just to let you know Mum alls ok again now! lol). We walked past this sign today that showed how far away all major cities were to that point. London was something like 17,500 km...so thats always a nice thought (especially when things start to go wrong i.e having no money) Lovely. Also, we still haven't christened the car yet, so anyone who can think of a good name we're all ears! But you can't use ur own name (Gem!)
The mammoth car ride to Melbourne begins on Monday so next time I post a journal I'll of hopefully been on the Neighbours Tour. Apparantely theres always a character at these tours so Im hoping for Izzy, Sky, Elle lol...or the one and only Toadie! Or maybe meeting with Dr Karl Kennedy! :-) Speak soon everyone.
