Now that was one long drive! We finally set off (after more problems withdrawng money) on Monday in Abigail (Abi). Abi was chosen by all three of us! What a name. And Im glad to report that after 900kms to Melbourne shes still in one piece. In fact I reckon shes probably in better condition than when we set off.
But the day before (Sunday) was a pretty good day. Me and Roomy were enjoying a good nights sleep, but Milsy got woken up by two people enjoying the 'good stuff'. Luckily me and Rooms were on top bunks in our room so we were none the wiser, but apparantely Milsy felt like he was in cruise ship lol! This fella even at one stage tried to grab the bars on Milsys bed to get a bit more leverage! The cheek. But after a firm Milsy like stare the ugly Scot soon let go. And according to Milsy, he lived up to the Missy Elliott Classic 'One Minute Man'. Now thats embarrassing, especially in a room of ten people! Anyways we all woke up (Milsy still looking a bit tired!) and got cleaned up ready for another day. We put some laundry in and then Roomy went to Manly Beach and me and Milsy went to Bondi Beach. Roomy had already been to Bondi, but me and Milsy hadn't so there was a divide in the group! lol...only joking. We thought it would only be a twenty minute walk, so off we went on our merry way. 40 minutes had past and we came to a dead end! We asked a lady where Bondi was and she laughed! Cheers love. But after she composed herself (after a further 5 mins) she helped us out big time. So after two more buses we were there! It was an awesome beach, but we didnt sunbath it was too cold. Even though it must have been 20 degrees plus. When we got back, I put my foot in it again! I keep telling all new friends I can cook...oh dear! So I had to run down to the shop and buy some tuna, cheese, and spagetti. It was time for the Dela special. The chefs hat came on (and to my surprise it came out pretty good). The girls seemed to like it and Milsy polished it off within a few minutes. Maybe I should look at turning pro? In the evening, we went out with two danish girls...Fie and Emilie (I hope I spelt that right) promising them a breathtaking performance on the karaoke! So we headed off to the same place we had gone before...unfortunately on this night karaoke was not on. I could see the look on the girls faces (they were gutted!) So we had a few drinks and then went on to a few other bars. They were very nice girls. Extremely very nice girls lol! I even proposed...still waiting for an answer Fie! It would be the wedding of the century. We had to be up early the next morning, and by the time we got home (3am ish) it didnt look like we'd get much sleep.
To wake me up, Fie had to pour god knows how many glasses of water on my face. I was soaked and I was so tired, and to make things worse there was a lot of driving that needed to be done. So after a few tearful goodbyes we checked out and loaded up Abi for the long drive to Melbourne. We drove for 600kms on Monday...I did the first 300 and then Milsy took over! After a nervy start, Im at one with Abi now. I now know why my Dad drives an Automatic...its so easy. But I do prefer a manual still. Australias crazy too because a part from the big cities theres not much else here. We saw a few kangaroos too (none alive yet). 600 kms down we stopped over at a place called Albury. We still had another 300kms to go but we were so tired we had to stop. We stayed in a really good cheap hotel which had a TV! We all do miss a good TV. So after a few programmes we got some shut eye for another day of driving. Me and Milsy the next morning took advantage of the free breakfast and drink...Roomy was being lazy and opted to stay in Bed. So after another 300kms (150 done each by me and Milsy) we arrived in Melbourne! We were now in the same city as Neighbours. So we headed in the city, parked Abi up and headed for the Tourist Info Centre. We're now staying in a hostel called 'GreenHouse Backpackers'. Its really nice, much cleaner than the one in Sydney. Abi's parked in a big twelve storey car park nearby (Im sure she'll be safe). But by the time we checked in, and sorted the car out we were all pretty tired. What a result though...we arrived at 5.30pm and it just so happened that in thirty minutes there was a free BBQ on the roof! Get in, we were all sooo hungry. Not bad day when you think, we had a free breakkie and a free dinner. So after the food was eaten we cleaned ourselves up and went to sample the Melbourne nightlife. We didnt drink though! For once lol. Just wanted to see what it was like. And to get our bearings. We did stop off at one bar where there was free games of pool. And not to keep showing off, Im still yet to be beaten (well in Melbourne anyway lol). After a little walk round we retreated back to our hostel ready for another busy day sightseeing.
Today, we woke up a bit too late. The problem is theres no window in our room so we have no idea what time in the day it is. The room is awesome though. We went to check on Abi and then decided to head to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) for a tour. It was amazing...it holds something like 95,000 but its just really good to look at. Plus its going to be the scene of England Ashes Test win which starts on Boxing Day. The tour only cost about a fiver and it was well worth doing. After the tour we treated ourselves to a curry. Really nice again but Im sure in the morning I might not think so lol. Tomorrow is a pub crawl with the hostel so hopefully we'll meet more new people, should be a good night! Will keep you posted...speak to you all soon and thankyou for your emails/messages
