Hello everyone,
Its been a pretty hectic last few days. Plus Im feeling pretty ropey at the mo so I'll try my best to remember the best bits! On Sunday (after the last journal) me and Roomy decided to 'treat ourselves' to a decent meal down by Darling Harbour. It was amazing; the food and the view. Definately worth paying a few extra bucks, and it filled us up all day so no other snack (e.g crisps, chocolate, beer) was needed. On route back to the hostel, we came across a street entertainer. He was really funny and he kept swearing loads (even though Roomy and other minors were in the audience). This street entertainer did the whole juggling thing with fire so me and Rooms positioned ourselves near the back. Plus he kept dropping them so when it was time for him to get people involved we weren't interested! Right shocker...I was trying to hide when he pointed at me and asked me to come up. I looked at Roomy and pretended he was pointing at Rooms. But...after me saying no he even came right up to me and pulled me over! Damn it (I feared my life was over). He obviously wanted a strong fella for this trick. So you cant blame him for picking me lol. He ended up standing on mine and some other fellas shoulder while juggling balls of fire (see pictures). Madman! After all that drama, we headed back to the hostel and just chilled out (plus I had to recover).
Monday....the day had come to find out whether we were going to see U2 and Kanye West. I'd like to rub salt in the wound but unfortunately it never materialised! I did have a little cry but all the tickets were sold out. But we thank Tony for trying! Also it was the day of Mine and Milsy Hair appointments at Toni and Guy! It was a bit eventful. We both had trainees working on us but luckily my turned out ok. Milsy on the otherhand had a bit of a nightmare, she kept asking her teacher for advice/help every 5 minutes (it was quite funny to watch!). But after an hour (they even washed/massaged our hair too...now thats a bit of a cheeky service) we were done. After the hair cut and more moping about (from the U2 rejection), we found out that the boys (the England Cricket team) were in town for an ashes warm-up match against New South Wales. The Sydney Cricket Stadium is only a 20 minute walk so we all decided to go to sleep (early for once) to make sure we were up and about at the Cricket Ground for half ten. It was pizza night at the hostel too, which is only like 2 pound fifty for a large (and I mean large) Pepperoni Pizza. You gotta love Pizza Hut! That was all eaten in record time.
For once we actually got up on time (on Tuesday). We got to the Ground for ten ish and luckily all the England Team were in the nets literally four feet from us! How goods that? Back home its just impossible to get that close to famous sportsmen. Unfortunately because Freddie Flintoff and Kevin Pieterson were due out in bat they weren't in the nets. But anyway we all plucked up the courage to ask for a few pictures. But to my shock, Alaistair Cook (Cooky) and Andrew Strauss (Straussy) made a bee line for us. So we exchanged numbers and I told them both that if they ever ventured to Fenstanton there was always a place to stay (if thats ok with you Mum and Dad) lol. They even wanted to come out on a night up Ballare (but I told them they should concentrate on their cricket). It was a really good day, but I did get fried by the sun! I'm still in a little pain at the moment. It ended up a draw. But what a draw :-). Spent the evening recovering from the sun burnt and speaking to other guests in hostel. One girl in our room will have an appartment in a few weeks with her friends...so we've been chirpsing her up for the past few days! Its worked a treat because she said we could stay with her over xmas and new year. That will save us loads of money.
Wednesday...turned out to be an historic day (one you'll, well me) will remember for the rest of my life...or trip. We purchased a car today. Awesome! Its a 3.8 litre bad boy, air con, power steering station waggon. Theres only one drawback to this beast. Theres a little crack in the windscreen, but Im sure it'll be ok. Well it best be. We've put down a deposit for the car and we will pay the remainder on Friday. The boys want me to drive first (not sure why?) Maybe because its an automatic; I've always driven a manual so should be interesting getting out of Sydney. We've off to Melbourne and apparantely it'll take in the region of 12-14 hours. Now thats a right trek. Not the usual 10 mile drive to Cambridge! I will get some pictures of the car, plus we need to give her a name too. We went out last night to wet the cars head...we had to celebrate! But it was quite quiet. But on the way home I did get talking to a Donna. She was gorgeous...really tasty. She wasn't slim, but she did have some meat on her. Her surname was Kebab though! Regretted it in the morning (but at the time you can't think of anything better). Its raining today (I've even had to don my hoody for the first time) so cant see too much being done today. Take care everyone!
