Wednesday was our 20th Anniversary and we celebrated with an intimate vow renewal ceremony in St Croix. We woke to a gourgeous Caribbean sunrise. The skies were clear and the weather was warm. Hooray.
I encouraged everyone to go off and do fun stuff so that Becca and I could have the house and kitchen to ourselves to get ready for the party. Mom B, Mom G, Dad, Amanda and Bart went to the Cruzan rum distillery and took a tour and enjoyed their sample room. Eric went off on his own to put the finishing touches on his vows. They all met at the beach for a few hours in the afternoon. Becca and I cooked and cleaned and got everything ready.
At around 2pm chores ware done. Becca and I treated ourselves to some bubbles and a dip in the pool to cool down. She helped me with my hair and my makeup. I had Mom, Maria, Lesley and Becca around me while I was getting ready. It was really nice.
At 3:30 we had to make the call to move the ceremony from the beach to the house. It had been extremely windy today and some of the gusts were kicking up sand and would have made for uncomfortable moments and appetizers at the beach would have been a sandy mess.
Our guests began to arrive at 5:30. We had champagne and snacks and enjoyed music by Scott. At around 6:15 we got started. Ed officiated and did a great job. Lesley recited a beautiful poem and Keith sang a song that he wrote just for us. Eric and I got through our vows without crying too much and everything went great.
We had dinner during sunset in the beautiful setting of Larimar Estate. The house we rented for our special day is the perfect place to host a party and party we did. Keith made the most beautiful toast, reminding of us of all of our fun shenanigans together. We danced with glow sticks and had another sing along with Scott on guitar, Keith on the drum and Missy with the shake. There was lots of rum drinks and lots of laughter and lot's of love. We had a great day and a great party.
Love to all who traveled so far to spend the week with us on our island. Our memories of today will last a lifetime. You are very special to us.
