Our last few days on St Croix were really relaxing. Amanda, Becca, Maria and Eric's parents left on Friday. It was hard to say goodbye and to admit the party was winding down. It has been such a beautiful week filled with great memories and lots of laughter.
Friday afternoon the 12 remaining trekked into the town of Christianstead to see the architecture and do a little shopping. Our first stop was Rum Runners for lunch where we had a great waterfront lunch. The food was as good as I remember it to be and we all enjoyed watching the seaplanes take off and land in the harbor.
We found a fun little bar two doors down and plopped Bart on a bar stool. The sidewalks of Christianstead are very uneven and prooved to be too tough for our blind guy. Before we even got back to the street we could hear Bart and the bartenders laughing away and knew Bart would be fine there for a few hours while the rest of us wondered the streets.
A few people in our group were on a mission to find Cruzan Hooks. This is the unique signature bracelet of St Croix. We shopped and took photos and ejoyed the charm of downtown. It was quite hot so we all gravited back to Bart and cold drinks. After a refreshing rum drink we all piled back into our twin minivans and headed back home for a swim in the pool.
Our household headed to Cane Bay Dreams for a great sunset and dinner prepeared by Keith and Scott. Dinner was amazing. Mom and I ran out of energy around 9:30 so we headed for home.
On Saturday we said our goodbyes to Everyone else accept for Lesley and Ray. Eric and I had a relaxing afternoon at Cane Bay Beach. Lesley and Ray took the car and did a little last minute exploring. They visited the Marina where Lesley had her catamaran parked and where I worked when we lived here. They also made a trip into town because Ray decided he would like a Cruzan Hook too. We had a very quiet evening and last night at Villa Larimar.
Sunday morning Eric and I went for one last snorkel at Cane Bay. I am so glad we did. It was one of the best snorkels ever. The amount of fish out there early in the day, before the rest of the people arrive, is amazing. The coral is making a comeback on the North Shore of St Croix and it was beautiful.
We packed up the house, had lunch, said goodbye to our caretaker Mark and reluctantly pulled away from our home away from home. We are headed to the Intercontinental on Carolina beach in Isla verde, Puerto Rico for four nights. Vacation is not quite over.
