Big news!!!! the neighbours had a fight at 5:30am. Don't know what it was about as the shouting was all in Thai but the damage must be extensive as we heard glass and furniture being thrown around and broken. The best we can hope is the couple next door were having a major tiff, but we fear our neighbour had tried to renegotiate the price with a lady, who was throwing the strop. You have to be careful in this hotel as everything and I mean everything has a price. Our guest information pack lists all the items in the room (including teaspoons) and provides a replacement price. David broke a cup which is 100batt. Needless to say I hope our neighbour negotiated a significant discount with the lady to counter the more than considerable bill to replace the broken items in the room.
When we checked in we were given a 500batt voucher to use in the pool bar, today we got round to using it. To be honest we don't usually bother with hotel pool bars as they tend to be rubbish, but we gave it a go anyway. Yvonne had an average pizza (should have known; western) but David had a fantastic chicken satay, washed down with 2 Chang beers; Yvonne had a diet coke that should counter the pizza calories. We had been saving the voucher for a particularly rainy evening in case we were trapped in the hotel again. So you know exactly what happened as soon as we had spent the voucher - heavens opened with another humdinger of a storm. Eventually made it out to the shopping mall for dinner. Yvonne declared the officially worse toilets of the trip even by Thai and Vietnamese standards. We'll leave to your imagination just how bad that could be. In addition to the toilets from hell we watched 3 Thai hairdressers chase a rat out of their salon. Believe it or not the mall is the poshest and most modern place in Patong by far; the others are just less well lit so more easily hide their filth.
