Lazy day at last. Breakfast, pool and David had a walk along the beach. We were about to go out for 5 o'clock drinks and snacks but got stuck on our balcony watching a heavy shower. We remembered from our first visit that it rains just about every day in the late afternoon so you plan your day accordingly; tomorrow we're going out for 4 to watch tourists running to find shelter. Officially it's no longer wet season but we can't tell the difference - it's the topics of course it rains.
Off out into the back street cafes to enjoy some street food. The travel nurse before we left said I no occasion should you touch the street food. No doubt she would be horrified by the Thai approach to health and safety generally. But if you listened to the nurse you would never leave your hotel room here and you'd miss all the best bits. We try to go where it's busy so the food hasn't been sat around too long and bbq or boiling oil are usually a safer bet but they don't have fridges or use hot water so you're reliant on how hot they cook the food and if it was cooked just now or yesterday. Last night we watched the food which had been on display (for who knows how long) being wrapped in plastic bags to go back out on display today. At least the bag would keep some of the insect life off.
Spotted an Elwis show (no misspelling of Elvis that how the Thais say it). Might stop by tonight to reminisce over the fine singing the last time we were here (you know who you are).
