Highlight (or lowlight depending on your interpretation) of today was a major power cut. We were sat in a bar and all the power right along the main road went out and stayed out for about an hour. Since our room is on the 7th floor of the hotel we decided that it was daft to go back to climb 7 flights of stairs to get to a dark and hot hotel room. Of course as soon as we had made that decision and ordered more drinks, the power came back on. Yvonne thought David had slipped the power company a backhander so he could squeeze in another round.
A New Zealander from Australia recommended a fantastic bbq place to us he even had a carry out of leftovers for us to try. The problem was that in Patong there are very few useful addresses as place names involve the Thai equivalent of building no6 up thingy alley off so-and-so street. After a fruitless search we gave up and went to the beach bars for dinner. We were keen to try one of the Russian ones but the menu was completely in Russian and we were unwilling to play dinner lucky dip so back to Thai curries with sand between our toes. Immediately after we had finished a lovely meal, a cockroach decided to join us at our table. We have seen a lot of them but this was the first one at dinner. Ever keen to enjoy his pint in peace David tried to convince Yvonne it was a prawn - you know those wandering land based table top crawling prawns. The attempt was not successful.
