It was a horrible start to the day. Melanie firstly woke just after midnight complaining she felt a little sick and then by 2.00am she was really sick, vomiting etc. We couldn't make a decision on what we were going to do, stay another day or drive the long distance to Broome. Fitzroy Crossing basically didn’t have good medical facilities so we decided that Melanie was well enough to make the trip to Broome, where there was a much larger hospital and a major airport if needed. She was pretty sick.
Headed off and Neil put the foot down to try to get there as quick as possible, but we had to stop for Melanie to be sick. Kept going and finally got to Broome after a tiring and boring drive. Basically nothing to see along the way.
Setup camp and then took Melanie straight to the Broome Hospital where they checked her out. They said they might have to put her on a drip as she was very dehydrated. The doctor said to her she had to drink, drink, drink. (funny, that is what Sharon and Neil had been telling her all day)
They finally let her out of the Hospital after a couple of hours and we went back to camp where Melanie went to bed.
We later found out that where Melanie had washed her thongs the night before was the dump site for the campervan toilets, so she probably picked up a bug from the tap handle.
