Hi everyone.
Well after a 10 hour flight with no aircon we finally made it to Bangkok. We got through passport control and a taxi to the hotel. You would think this would be an easy experience but the taxi driver who knew no real english, took us to the wrong hotel... then another, then another! Eventually we made it to the hotel, which is beautiful and we have made good use of the pool!
Been doing all the touristy haunts such as the grand palace and temples (pictures will be added soon!). The reclining buddha was a sight to be seen at 65ft. Dave got us lost on a few occassions and you cant go ten metres down the road without being sold something!
We are 5 minutes from the the Kao San Road which is the main backpacker area... we are now taking orders for gifts, Ray Ban sunglasses, Rolex watches or Abercrombie T-sirts, the choice is yours! Dave bought a pair of Billabong shorts for 4quid! The Kao San Road has pretty much everything you would imagine Bangkok to have, including standard Irish bars and Thai Lady boys! The drink prices are rather reasonable too so we have been slightly over indulging!
We took our first Tuk Tuk ride yesterday, an experience we will probably never forget! Helen was hanging on for dear life as we negotiated sharp bends at break neck speeds!
Its our last night in Bangkok tonight with an early dart tomorrow to Kananchaburi (I think thats how you spell it!) for some Elephant trekking and Tiger spotting! We have also bought our train tickets to head to the island which was 18pounds each for a bunk bed with air con and the ferry tickets!
We will post when we next get the chance!
Dave and Helen xxx
