Dear all,
apologies for not keeping in touch for the last week or so but its been really hectic! First of all, we can't put any pictures for Ko Tao up we are afraid as our memory card decided to break with all our photos on... dont worry, we should be able to retrieve them!
Anyway, where do we start. We took an overnight train from Ko Tao down to the island of Penang (just past the Malaysian border) where we spent the day sightseeing. For history buffs this was one of the first British trading posts in South East Asia and the place is swarming with colonial buildings.
We only had the day to explore but managed to take in all the attractions (see photos) the weather put a dampening on things towards the early evening but this was ok as we had to catch sleeeper train number 2!
We awoke the next morning in another city... Kuala Lumpur or KL as its known to the locals. The main attraction is the Petronas towers formerly the world's tallest building. As it was a gorgeous day we were able to take great views of the city from the bridge connecting the two towers. Next up was the KL tower which was a lot more impressive thanks to the 360o views from the top (sorry for all the boring photos!). We spent the rest of the day walking, and we mean walking around the whole city through the famous Chinese and Indian quarters. It was pretty cool to see all the cultures living together i one place but this is what Malaysia is like as a whole. We also spent some time walking through the rainforest in the city amongst amazing wildlife.
Next up was Siungapore after sleeper train number 3 and a rude awakening to Singapore immigration.
