We have left Cairns now after seeing the Great Barrier Reef on a 2 night/3 day boat trip. The reef was amazing! We saw 2 sharks and a huge turtle while snorkeling. It was nice to sleep in a 'real' bed for 2 nights! We left Cairns 2 days ago and headed up to see the Daintree National Park. We have made it to tropical North Queensland, and we are currently in the city of Townsville. We like what we have seen of Townsville - arriving yesterday we went to Reef HQ - a centre with a living reef and lots of colourful fish to look at, and we saw the feeding the fish and even went out to the sea turtle hospital where we were amazed at the size of the turtles up close! We chose a campsite close to the beach 5 mins out of the city centre, it has a nice pool...

So we head off on the journey up to Cairns this Sunday! We plan to go to Australia Zoo and pay our respects to Steve Irwin this Sunday. From there to the Sunshine Coast, then up to the Whitsundays and finally to Cairns. We went to see the mighty Brisbane Roar take on Gold Coast United last Friday evening.
