Just a short-ish post to update you all since we bought the car.
We have been on 2 day trips from Brisbane in the past two weekends. The first trip in Mitzi took us to North Stradbroke Island (can be seen on the map on this page to the East of Brisbane - the large white one). The picture on this post is of the Pacific Ocean off N. Stradbroke). Unfortunately we didn't pick the most sunny day to go, but we saw our first real beach! We got some sunbathing done in the afternoon when the sun eventually decided to come out.
On our second weekend trip we decided to go into the nearby forest, a National Park, called D'Aguilar. We had great weather, and took some nice photos from the many viewpoints along the way (uploaded to the blog already). It took us about 4 hours to drive the circular route, but only because we stopped to admire the views so many times!
This weekend we have bought our new home for the next year (a 4 man tent)!! We got it in the Tentworld sale! We had a little practise putting up the tent and it was very easy & fast so I think we've got a good deal. We've also been to K-mart to buy a gas camping stove, camp chairs & table, pans, cutlery, and a few other bits and pieces. We still haven't got everything we need, so next weekend we'll have to have another trip to the shops!
Work-wise, Laura is going to do 2 more weeks working at the Queensland gov't Climate smart scheduling place, and Danny had a good week's work at a garage door place 15 min drive from the apartment.
Tomorrow it is forecast 28 degrees and sunny, so we are going to spend the day at Southbank 'beach' catching some rays in the city :-)
We are setting off up to Cairns end of Oct/beginning of Nov... we both can't wait to get going and see more of the country!
