We have left Cairns now after seeing the Great Barrier Reef on a 2 night/3 day boat trip. The reef was amazing! We saw 2 sharks and a huge turtle while snorkeling. It was nice to sleep in a 'real' bed for 2 nights!
We left Cairns 2 days ago and headed up to see the Daintree National Park. Wedid a short 3km walk around an area called the Mossman Gorge - we will upload photos from there and the GB Reef.
From the Daintree we headed South inland to some interesting country towns - Mareeba and Atherton. The country roads had lots of road trains on them and we had to move off the road when one was coming towards us! There was also lots of roadkill - yuck! Mainly 'roos :(
The countryside changed dramatically from rainforest to flat barren cattle stations. Lots of wildlife was spotted along the road - eagles, kangaroos, etc and also a suicidal cow which tried to jump in front of the car!
We are now back down on the coast (sort of) in Ayr - a small country town where we hope to find some fruit picking work... we will let you all know if anything 'crops up' haha.
