Happy St. Patrick\'s Day. Sorry I haven\'t given an update in a while but hopefully you have gotten to see the rock climbing pictures from the trip I went on this past weekend- it was so much fun! Let me back track a little and tell you about the first picture. It is from the Queen Victoria Night Market which is held every Wednesday night til the end of March. There is so much good food there. I got to try a roo burger, emu sausage, and crocodile fillets. Quite tastly. And the Dutch pancakes coated with cream and sugar that I had for desert were heavenly- a great treat. Ok now about this past weekend- it was a blast. I got to try something that I had never done before- outdoor rock climbing. It was quite a thrill. We left real early (at 7:15am!) on Friday Morning. We packed our tents and backpacks in a trailor, boared the bus and headed out. After driving an hour and a half we stopped for morning tea and then headed on to our first climb site. It was at the Southern Day Valley in the Northern Grampiens, Victoria. Our instructors set up the ropes (they climbed the easy way up behind the rocks to set up the gear- I was wondering how they were going to do that) and showed us how to belay and climb. Then we went up. My first rock was kind of scary- it wasn\'t too difficult but once I saw how high up I was with just a rope (and two people) hanging on to me I got a little nervoue. But I pushed myself on and made it to the top. It was such a great feeling to finally kiss the carabiners (that was what you had to do to sucessfully complete a climb). It was awesome. After that we drove to our camping spot at Mt. Arapiles. (one of the top 6 rock climbing spots in the world!) We pictured our tent and cooked our meal on camp stoves- I have to say it was some of the best food I have tasted- I was starving at that point and anything cooked outside just tastes great. The next two days were spent climbing. I made four sucessful climbs on an 8, 10,,11, and 12 level rock (those are beginner/intermediate levels) There were much harder climbs that some of the guys did that looked awesome. One even had a mission impossible move in it but I wasn\'t quite ready for that yet. The weekend was really fun and I was really glad that I went.
