Lets take this gig global!!
Good'ay folks, By crikey that was a long journey!! Well, as you can probs tell I made it to Melbourne fine in the end! After some successful shopping in BK it didnt bode well on the ride to the airport with a full on storm brewing and with thunder and lightening going off!! but it cleared up in the end fortunately. We also bumped into Riley and Riley (!!) a couple we met in Phi Phi at the airport and they were on the same flight to Singapore- this travelling world is defo a small one!! As with all our Singapore Airlines flights it was another belter (they are soo good we actually look forward to the flights!!) It was going smoothly for me until the food arrived and then being pretty hungry I was a little too keen to open up the thousand island dressing and ended up flicking the whole pot all over me and the Asian woman unfortunately sat next to me!! Just a tad embaressing, as one of the tasty stewardesses is strutting passed! Smooth Dan..... real smooth!! Anyways I got hit with the worst of it and i did clear it all up for them so i think I left with at least some dignity by the end! The change over at Changi airport was fine and we even managed to catch most of the Chelsea- West Ham game which was cool. The flight to Melbourne was about 7 and half hours in the end but again you're treated like royalty and we even had a few cheeky baileys and vino as a toast to our time in Asia! I didnt sleep too much what with all the timezone changes so was pretty knackered when we arrived at 5:30am and it didnt get much better when we stepped outside the airport in our sunny shorts and t-shirts to find that its bloody freezing here!! well, I say freezing, its pretty cool at about 15 degress! Anyways, we have got a sweet hostel in a prime location bang in the centre of Melbourne and after a little sleep we took the (free) tram around the centre and had a little stroll to get a feel for the place and so far so good. It seems a little quiet at times but am looking forward to checking out the nightlife as already we have a huge list of bars/clubs to check out after speaking to umpteen locals today! They are so friendly here they just recognise the accent and stop you for a chat!! The girls love it too so may have to bring out the "queens English" on our first night out! hahaha! So yeah, got here safe and sound and liking it alot so far (just wish the sun would come out!). I'll keep you posted later in the week on what we've been upto. ADIOS Dan
