Lets take this gig global!!
Well after 6 days we finally managed to tear ourselves away from Pololem and have had another eventful few days. Instead of Agonda we decided to head further up (mainly due to lac of time) the coast so got the bus to Benaulim. It was an ok beach but a complete parallel to Palolem as its a long stretch of coastline and in either direction is just sandy shores as far as the eye can see compared to our tiny coconut bay in Palolem. We spent Thursday afrvo on the beach and then went out for a really nice meal, again literally right on the beach with the tide coming up (Lucy almost got swept away at one point!). We went all out with three courses and even a few beers and still only managed to spend just under 4 quid! this place is just crazily cheap! Benaulim itself is more holiday maker types tho (i.e. beetroot northerners and topless grannies!) rather than the traveller scene we're after so we only stayed the one night and on Friday we headed to Arambol after a few recommendations from peeps in Palolem (big up the Israli crew!).
Its the most northern beach in Goa and it was a really fun ride to get here by bus even tho we had to first change at Panjim then Mapusa and finally just outside Arambol! It was cool just hopping from bus to bus and it really felt like we were in rural India with the locals. It was really interesting to see all sorts of people getting on and off (and experienced teh 'sardine' effect with hundreds crammed in to those little buses!) especially the cheeky school children oncw we got close to Arambol.
Once here all the accomodation we tried waas full so we eventually found a guesthouse up on the cliffside (a little skanky but still amazing views!) after an SAS type exercise lugging our gear around in mid thirties heat!
But its all paid off as we have finally found our 'backpackers ' scene we were hoping for in Goa. Its got a really nice beach here and wicked little bays tucked away over the rocky headlands and the whole vibe is awesome. Really kinda 'hippie' and laidback and the bars and shopping is immense!! Its bargain central!!
Its a real young sexy place too with unwriiten bikini contests on the beach (nice women EVERYWHERE!) and even the footy and disc is a better standard and a little more competitive (probs because more girls are watching!) UIts a shame we only have a couple of nights here as we are really enjoying it.
Well, we are heading up to Mumbai on Monday (we think) as we fly to Singapore on Tuesday night so I will try and say hi before the flight. I'm pretty gutted about leaving India as it has really bowled me over abd its gonna be a massive culture shock heading back to 'civilisation' aftyer a week of paradise beachlife!!
Hope all is good where you are. Boys, email me about the boarding.
