Lets take this gig global!!
Hey guys. Me again. I'm finding all these updates pretty hard because we are seeing and doing sooo much everyday and you see, feel, smell so many things that you cant really explain in words - you just have to see it for yourself to take it all in. Its the little things that I love at the moment like the smell of the insence that they burn at certain prayer times in the day, waking up and feeling like youre in a monastry as you hear people praying (chanting/singing) at sunrise and when its as a group it is defo something spiritual- this all sounds a bit "Dawson Creek" I know, but its this sort of thing which make this culture so interesting and indiviual. So instead of going into too much deytail I'll just run through what I've been upto.
Well we got the train from Delhi to Agra today and it was surprisingly easy. We had a 3 tier cabin and me and Fi just slept most of the way on our own bunks! Got to Agra by 3pm and headed to the "Tourist Resthouse" where we are staying. We've heard good things and it nwas just as the Lonely Planet said it would be- with a cool little courtyard and really sound owner. The Taj Mahal is shut on Fridays so we had to head straight out and saw the Agra fort quicky first and then went straight to the Taj by auto-rickshaw. It had been closed for most of thre day as the Dutch or Malaysian Primeminister had been there but it opened again and although the queue were HUGE we managed to get in ok and saw the big one! It all turned out brilliantly in the end as we got to see it at Sunset and had the most perfect day for it- clear blue sky!! I had really built it up (as you'd expect) and especially afetr the Humayun Tomb and it defo didnt disappoint! Its more amazing than the photos and books!! Its huge and every brick/inscription is just mm perfect. Got some awsome pictures which I will try and set up at some point. So after that comedown we haeded back to our funky guesthouse and had an amazing curry (Dum Aloo- my new favourite!) in the garden and just chilled. Off to Jaipur tomo by bus so another potential interesting journey ahead.
So I'm am having a blast at the mo and have really realised why India is as popular as it is!
