Walking day today to catch up on the walking we couldn't do because of the weather in Wales. So started with a walk to the Downton Abbey filming sites in Bampton (photo is of building used as hospital) then off from Bampton across fields, bridges, stiles and along paths, through paddocks with cattle and to the Thames. Then along the Thames path to locks and watching longboats on the Thames and using the locks. Eventually got to a pub too late for lunch! So headed off again partly on the road and then public walking path through fields back to Bampton. Total time 5 hours and our legs know it but great fun
Well earned beer and V&T at the local pub and some sandwiches from the deli (lunch at 3.30pm!)
Back to the cottage for feet up and iPad clicking. Bought local butcher award winning sausages for dinner at home.
Bampton is a historical Cotswold village with heaps of character and typical Cotswold buildings - we love it
Have confirmed plans for tomorrow to go to Edinburgh by train for the day and overnight to catch up with Kylie Murphy who started work with us at Normanville when she was 14/15 and is now a chef in a Michelin star restaurant in the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh
Have to be up early to leave at 6am and drive to Peterborough to catch a 9.30am train to Scotland but will be worth it to see Kylie and eat at her restaurant
