Day out to Potsdam today.
Apartment is in such a great location the train station nearby is on the city circle line so can connect us to pretty well anywhere. We caught the train to Potsdam which is a medium sized city about 30 minutes out of Berlin. It was historically the centre of the Prussian rulers in Germany years ago. Great fun catching and changing trains then walked into the old city which was walled and wandered the very well restored streets through the Dutch area etc. then walked to the San Souci Park which is a beautiful area set up by Kaiser Wilhelm in the 18th century - beautiful gardens and lots of palaces, fountains etc - well worth a visit to just wander around. The city centre is a bit touristy but has been brilliantly renovated and the shops set up quite tastefully with not too much cheap souvenir s***. Walked back from the park to the train station and retraced our train trip back to the apartment. All in all walked for about 4 hours and had a great day.
Will head out near the apartment for dinner at Tao local Thai restaurant
Tomorrow a day trip to the Spreewald lakes and forest area (again by train) about 1.5 hours out of Berlin to take a punt tour through the area. Looking forward to it.
