I have now been living in Manly for just over a week and have been in Australia for just over 2. I am enjoying my life here very much so far, it is very relaxed and unstressful. My job at the sailing club isnt particularly glamorous, nor do I have to use my brain very much which to be honest is great, plus I am paid more than what I was paid at Russ hourly. At the moment I mostly work the floor, which means that I collect glasses, plates, clean the tables etc which doesn't sounds that good but actually I really enjoy it. I can chat to the customers who tend to be really interested in where I am from and my traveling plans and also I am constantly moving which means I am getting a free work out :) I also work behind the bar which is good but I have had to learn a different way of pouring lager - which is served in Schooners and Midis, there is no such thing as a pint here, a Schooner is between a pint and a half pint. Plus there are other drinks here that I had never heard of so its a learning process in that department. The people I work with are fantastic, they are all so friendly, well apart from the management. We went out for Chinese on Wednesday night which was a really good opportunity to get to know everyone and to see what Manly night life is like. Had a really good time. I'm glad I've had the opportunity to meet some Ozzies rather than hanging out with other backpackers which I think a lot of people end up doing. I have a couple of friends from the hostel, one of them is going to move over here as well so that'll be good. We have similar plans so may end up doing some traveling together as well.
In my spare time I go to the beach for walks and sometimes a swim - although it is warm outside the sea is still quite cold. There is an outdoor pool here too which I have been to - have had to get used to 50 meters lengths though which feels really long after 25 meters. I also read a lot and have been finding out about things I can while I am here. There are coach trips up to the Blue Mountains and Hunter Valley Wine Regions that sound really good. I am also thinking of doing a diving course and obviously surfing which I haven't plucked up the courage to do yet!
