After yet another long day travelling by taxi/sky train/coach/tuk tuk/ferry/funny litle taxi things that i dont know the name off/foot, we arrived at ko chang and although the first night was proper grotty, we found somewhere nicer and I went to the beach ASAP. It was called White Sand Beach the place where we staying and it was really white and sandy so that's probably where the name came from. However, there was also lots of nice warm, clear, ocean with hardly any people there so i don't know where that comes into the equation. Anyway, later that day we got a bit bored so decided to go and meet the ellies!!!!!! It was about a tenner each and we got to ride on the ellies and swim with the ellies and climb up hills with the ellies and feed the ellies and stroke the baby ellies and avoid the poo poos of the ellies in the water like in Kevin and Perry go Large and it was all really fun! Elephants have very rough skin and we were lucky cos our ellie was called Rogervahn and was 16 years old and really tame, whereas the other two were 36 and 10 respectively and a bit less well behaved. Anyway, after we went for the swim, we got to feed them bananas and it was like in Dumbo when Dumbo sucks the food up with his trunk. It was a bit sad like in Dumbo as well cos Mrs Jumbo was all chained up whilst Dumbo ran around :(
Anyway, that took up our day, and then I think Luke made us watch the football, but I didn't mind really because England won 3-0. The next day, we then went to a place called Lonely Beach and stayed ina little wooden hut right on the beach called a Treehouse Hut! It was really cheap and when we got there, there was a Siamese cat feeding her kitten on the bed, probably because Thailand used to be called Siam (it is in The King and I) and so this is where Siamese cats come from. It was a bit like in Lady and the Tramp where Si and Am were naughty because they wouldn't leave the hut and I couldn't touch them because I'm allergic and Luke wouldn't touch them because he didn't want rabies but then I found a stray labrador and got him to come over to our hut and that got rid of them pretty sharpish. In other news, we had to go toilet in a hole and shower using a bowl and some water! The food was yummy though and it was very relaxing until...
...the second night when there was a monsoon!!! The hut almost blew down! It was more annoying then scary because we were very tired. The next day we then had to come back to Bangkok to sort out our trip to Vietnam, so we said goodbye to the empty, sandy, sunny, beautiful, clean beaches of Ko Chang and came back to Smogville USA AKA Bangkok. There was another monsoon as we arrived back in the city and it was perfect timing as the freak head cold I had cuaght had just reached it's peak and I felt like i was about to die. However, Luke found us a place to stay and I found a Boots (unfortunately I had left my Advantage card in England - probably a good thing seeing as how the firemen robbed my wallet...), and they had extra strong Nurofen so I took two (apparently I only needed one) and I felt much better! We then slept in our nice hotel and then had a whole new adventure today!
After checking out her hotel, we found a new hostel and went to look at the Buddha statues in Bangkok and at the Grand Palace. Luckily, a kind Thai man who I secretly suspect was trying to trick us in some way found us a lovely Tuk Tuk man who took us around all day for only 60 baht! that was until he crashed of course...into the traffic policeman. Oh dear! It had to be our Tuk Tuk man! After watching him pick up the traffic policemans bike, we asked him how much we owed him and with a little sob and a tear rolling down his cheek he sadly informed us, "Pay me only what you think I deserve." Bless. We gave him a 10p tip. It's a lot in their country. Then we went to look at some Buddhas and now it's tea time! Tomorrow - Cambodia! And sorry to everyone who hasn't been added to contacts (particularly Uncle Stuart) - I lost them in the hotel fire :(
Speak soon, love from Chris and Luke
