Hello!
We are back in New Zealand, down in Mervyn's timeshare by the lake Taupo which is very nice. We had a trip around the mountains/ volcanoes yesterday in the national park and Chris went up the ski lift to the top of what was Mordor in the Lord of the Rings films. We had cream tea in the Chateau, which I think Grandad might have done as well?
White water rafting on the river this afternoon!
We've been wall climbing as welll here which was fun, Chris made it to the top of the wall which was very high, I got very close to the top but i got freaked out and didnt quite do it!
We didnt make it scuba diving in Samoa, there was a cruise ship coming in so they couldnt go out, but we went snorkelling instead which was really fun and we saw some very pretty fish still! We will aim to go scuba diving when we're in Oz.
Nigel- by the way you totally cheated while you were in Samoa! The place you stayed in had walls and a proper roof, separate rooms, and a bathroom, that's not a real fale! Check out our little wooden hut!
Thanks for all of the messages again!
Oh a story for you.... while we were in Samoa and heading back in the direction of the ferry back to the main island, we decided to visit a rainforest.... We got a taxi to take us there, who picked up a child from the village as we were getting close to show us the way. We parked up on the side of the road and the kid starting running up the side of a hill, absolutely covered in forest. The path we were following wasn't really a path and we had to clamber over loads of rocks and tree roots in our flip flops (and I was wearing a sarong!). the taxi driver came with us so the four of us were climbing through the wilderness. we had no idea where we were going because neither the taxi driver nor the child spoke english! we finally reached the top where there was this massive drop and we were looking down a big valley that was completely covered in rainforest and vines, you couldnt see anything but green, quite amazing! We thought the kid had gone up further so we kept going and took us a while to realise that he had gone back so we tried to clamber our way back down! It was definately another mini adventure!
We went to see a waterfall on the way back which had a lovely natural pool for swimming, I made it across to the waterfall on the other side.
NZ isn't quite as unpredictable but the scenery is fantasic.
Hope everyone is well and we'll let you know how this afternoon goes!
