Day eight started slowly. After having a big day and a late night we decided to have a little sleep in. We ate breakfast at around 10 and took some food for the road and off we went.
Plan was to get an ATV, meet Ashish and Aliya in Fira and then to do some exploring of the rest of the island.
We organised the ATV through the hotel and the guy we got it off was a bit dodgy and the helmets where a bit disgusting. This time we got a 150cc which was nice and speedy, especially on the hills. In Mykonos we had a 50cc and it struggled up the hills - a bit like my favorite car, my first car, the subaru sportswagon.
Anyway, it was game on as we joined the race track with the rest of the mario kart competitors and headed for Fira, the main town of Santorini. Only this time their were more bowsers (cars/trucks) on the road and we had an untrustworthy bike.
We met up with Ashish and Aliya and walked around Fira's little walk ways browsing in all the stores.
After a few hours we said our goodbyes to Ashish and Aliya and started exploring the rest of the island. We had a great time with them and hopefully we can stay in touch.
Onto Kamari, where we found a black beach and lots of restaurants along the waterfront. I enjoyed my first bag of Greek lollies - gummy hearts and they were yummy!
Then over to the other side of the island where we got to see the red beach, white beach and the other black beaches.
We walked around to the red beach which was something different - big cliffs which were all dark red rock and red/black sand and pebbles.
We relaxed on the beach for a little bit and went for a swim. It was very amusing getting in and out because it was all pebbles and rock. We must of looked like idiots all unbalanced and falling over. It cracked me up and I was laughing out loud to myself whilst falling over and crawling up the rocks.
Went back to the hotel and enjoyed a swim in the pool and a cocktail to bring the last night in.
We decided that we wanted to see Perissa and get dinner. So off we went on the bike again.
On our way out of Perissa, on a hill, we heard a slight noise and then the bike just stopped - we lost all acceleration. Lucky there was nothing behind so we pulled over and made camp on the side of the road.
We called the dodgy guy with my mobile which luckily we had on us. 45 minutes later, and after missing a brilliant sunset, the guy finally arrived and we got another bike. The bike was only a 50cc because "that's all he had" and the tank was empty, thanks buddy!
Anyway after being a little annoyed about that whole debacle we SLOWLY got back to Fira for dinner.
We got home and packed our stuff ready to leave the next day. Rome here we come!
