Day five and it was down to Kapari again for breakfast before catching a ferry to Delos.
It was a bit of a rush as we didn't set any alarms the night before. I kind of passed out on the couch and then found myself sleep walking for the first time in my life. I'm blaming it on delayed jet lag.
The next short film we work on might need to be called 'Sleepwalking in Mykonos'. I'm still working on a way to give the story some substance otherwise it will be very short.
The ferry to Delos costs €17 each and took about 30 minutes. When we arrived we were stung another €5 each and given a map to go explore on our own.
For those that don't know, Delos is a small 5km island that at one period had a population of 30,000. Two of the most important deities of the Greek pantheon, Apollo and Artenis, were born here.
Some of the earliest dwellings date well back beyond 15th century BC. Unfortunately the island was attacked twice from 88 BC to 69 BC by Mithridates and Pirates and the island became abandoned and ruined.
The stories of Delos and the sites of the buildings that were here are amazing. An even greater tragedy for this place, than it's history, is its current condition. The museum on the island feels like a public toilet block and smells like one too, yet it holds some of Greece's most incredible artifacts. Everything is overgrown and it appears that no one cares.
Despite this there is a lot to get out of visiting the island and we had fun feeling like Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider working our way through the ruins and discovering some hidden gems.
In the center of the island is a rocky hill. The path up is relatively steep but the rewarding views are well worth the climb. Unfortunately for us we were greeted with our first Greek rain half way up. The slate rock path became very slippery and became quite the challenge. I did slip when displaying my best Bear Grylls impersonation and split my hand. I now consider myself one of the lucky few to have spilt blood at the foot of a monument to Zeus.
Overall the Delos trip was a great little Aegean history lesson. If the island was dedicated some resources it could truly become an astonishing gem for Greece.
On returning to Mykonos we went for a short ride to see the lighthouse and another little cove.
Sal decided to have a few hours sleep while I hit the gym and took a dip in the ocean. Posters in the gym of greek women gave me a bit of a laugh as I tried to decipher the greek writing beneath them. (Sticko - Not sure if they are relentless like the ones in our Gym.) The water was chilling but freshened me up.
Dinner was back in town and we worked our way through some tasty kebabs and calamari. As we finished the wind picked up and it was icy. Sallie found a nice scarf and then we headed home.
Happy birthday to Emma!

Listeria Enjoying the blog guys! Not sure if Sal is getting a totally fair deal...!
Andrew Would have to agree. Sal - the password for the blog is probably 'godogs12' if you need to login. Sleepwalking in Mykonos as a sequel to Sleepless in Seattle?
Sal Yeah it seems that I am getting a bit burned in relation to these blogs!! I might have to change that password to bombers05. Just so you know Ryan's fall down the path was hilarious just because he was showing off about how quick he was getting down I did laugh very loud and everyone on the island probably heard. Getting on the quad the first time with Ryan driving was also very funny! I think I should have been the first to drive it!
Chop Andrew your alliance with Sallie is disgusting. Lisa I can understand but I thought we were a team. Lesson well learned. Sallie has vetoed all my comments, so you can take them as the truth!
Squire Don't worry Sallie. I'll always be here for you if things don't work out with Raybould ;)
