The flight was quite enjoyable, apart from Sallie's feet and calves swelling up. They seem to have deflated a bit now though.
Watched a number of films on the flight including Rocky I and II, The Company Men and The Green Hornet although I was very disappointed the Constant Gardener wasn't listed as I was hanging for it.
Had two arrogant woman sitting in front of us that insisted on having their chairs reclined the entire flight even during meals. Which meant my table was constantly on an angle as it hit my knees. Was pretty close to emptying my scotch on her head but then I didn't want to waste it!
Doha was an interesting stop-over. Never seen such a sandy place. It also looks like they have collected every portable building used in school upgrades. Think the District 9 camp and that's pretty much what it looked like out of the window flying in.
Everyone was wearing masks when we hopped off the plane. Thankfully it wasn't an air-born disease just protection against the crazy amount of dust. We hopped on a bus and it took about 5 minutes to get us to the airport.
Jumped on another bus to get to the next plane which was about a 12min bus ride and felt like they were taking us for a tour.
The next leg of the flight was pretty fun. I had a great couple from Dubai sitting next to me - Ashish and Aliya. He works as an engineer. Hopefully we will catch up with them in Mykonos. Oh and there was an old lady from Doncaster who warned us to be cautious. Thanks!
Arriving in Greece was very simple! Customs took less then 5 minutes and then our bags arrived first at the baggage bay. Then we went to catch the metro. For some reason everything was closed and there were no signs to say why. The trains weren't running either. So we walked back to the airport. We ended up taking a gamble and jumping on the bus with the most people. I attempted my first Greek hello and got a strong 'What!' in return.
Standing in a 10cm space we roared through the Greek streets. The driver was unbelievably heavy footed and Sal was flying around like a ping pong ball. I think she found all the graffiti on the streets a bit much too.
We jumped off at Syntagma Sq and started walking down some random street to get a bearing. 100 meters into the walk Sal wanted to ditch her bag - surprise, surprise! To her credit she lasted 50m more then I thought she would.
After my excellent navigating we arrived at our hotel in about 30 minutes. The man at reception was great and even acknowledged my attempt at butchering the Greek language. Our room is tiny as expected but satisfactory.
We decided to venture up to the Acropolis and sat on the rocks enjoying the amazing views. A few random dogs decided to sit with us for a bit too. The wild dogs and cats are definitely a weird thing to handle, so many of them just lying around baking in the sun! To their credit none of them look aggressive at all.
We had dinner in a nice little street below the Acropolis at a restaurant called Yopia before heading back for a good nights sleep.
Will try to keep posts shorter in the future.
Ryan and Sal.

John Merlo Longer the better. An improvement on the local press, although the media accounts of Osama being blown to bits were more than acceptable, and mean another non alcohol-free-day coming yup straight after work. Prost! Cheers! Here's mud in your eye! Osama: may your 42 virgins all have the clap.
Sticko Glad you arrived safe mate! Glad they didn't play the constant gardener so you didn't realise how s*** it was lol. Get some photos up soon mate.
Chop Sticks, you need to watch it again to realize how wrong you were about it the first time. I can only upload photos from my phone ATM. Once I find a way to get them off the camera I'll post them. John, I woke to the news of Obama being played in Greek on the TV. Thought another bomb went off but then found out what it all meant. His understudy is rejoicing at the news of the virgins.
