Every night I go to sleep with the impression that 'i had the best day ever and it cant get much better than this' but it always does. The days keep getting better and better! Today I slept in until after 10.30 which usually i love sleep but i need to hustle hustle hustle! I can sleep when im dead, this is new york....the city that never sleeps!
Anyway, we were on a mission to get to Central Park for the first time since arriving in new york. And we did! Its actually closer to our hotel than i thought but still a nice walk away. On the way i came across the head quarters of victoria secret and after doing my research when i got home, i found out there are several jobs going in the head offices at the moment, perhaps i should get a job and then never leave?
When we arrived in central park we decided to hire bikes and ride around it as we wanted to go right the way around and riding seemed to be the smartest option (although we are planning to head back on tuesday morning and run right around it. thats just under 10km and seeing as though i havent so much as looked at my running gear since nashville a month ago, it may be snowing by the time i finish). The park is so beautiful, stunning! There is so much going on and its so mind blowing to see such a big, green park lost in what seems like thousands of grey, over shadowing buildings but i guess thats what makes it so special! There was lots of people running, walking, riding and even roller skating around it and others picnicing, playing on playgrounds, socializing etc. You get so caught up in the atmosphere and environment that just for a minute you forget your in the middle of one of the biggest cities in the world. As we were riding, i noticed a change in the city around us...it looked like we were up around the Upper east side and then i started to notice familiar buildings from Gossip girl. Holaaaa, i even saw the lake where Blair used to feed the ducks with Dorota :') After a lovely ride, i was interested in going to the Whole Foods market which ive heard does the best healthy food in the city and something i was in the mood for. We went there and it was basically both a heath food grocery and a self serving health food salad bar. We got our lunch there and went back into central park where we sat for a picnic. It was lovely and really good to just sit there and take it all in.
Just when i thought i had had another incredible day, we went off to a Broadway show and saw Mamma Mia. This was suprisingly one of the highlights of the whole trip. I cant explain how amazing it was. From start to finish i loved it and im not usually a theatre/musical kind of person but this show was beyond amazing and i still cant get over the amazement of it. I literally could not wipe the smile off my face the entire show. I even had some chemistry and cute eye contact with not one but two of the cast members...it was a tad awkward considering they would have been in their late 20's but hey they were cute and age is just a number right? I am now so keen to go watch the movie mamma mia because if its anything like the musical i expect it will be amazing. Hopefully we will get another chance to see another broadway show before we leave :)
After the show we went out for late night sushi and came back to an unusal looking hotel room...the t.v. was on which we swore we hadnt left on and i noticed a few things on the tv cabnet had been shifted. I didnt want to freak out and i thought i was being paranoid but then we noticed a piece of paper with a phone number on it and a label i had never seen before. Things started to get creepy and poppa called security. It was weird because someone had definitely been in our room yet my macbook, poppas phone, my camera, money and nannas ipad were all scattered around the room and they hadnt been touched...why would someone break in and not take anything? Oh but wait, just when we thought nothing was missing i had noticed something that made me fume...my fkn macarons which were delicious by the way, were gone. I had only eaten 2 and it was a box of 6. The box was there but empty and nanna and poppa obviously didnt touch them so whats going on? Security arrived and took notes, asked questions etc and the manager came up to assess the situation. No one could figure out what had gone on but i didnt feel comfortable and it gave me the shivers knowing someone had been in our room while we werent there. After about an hour of investigation and at this point i was starting to freak out, they told us the engineers had been in here and changed the t.v. as the last guests that were in this suite had complained. Okay but that doesnt explain my missing macaroons? the hotel admitted they had done us wrong as they hadnt notified us that they would be coming in here and they should of let us know. In the end we got vouchers for breakfast but im still a little confused as to what really happened when we werent here. nanna and i still arent convinced but everything seems to be all good so thats that. (p.s. still fuming about my macarons)
Not the best way to end the day, but it doesnt counteract for what an amazing day it was. Did i mention how i never want to leave?
