Well what can I say about Ilha Grande.... What a Grand island it is!!! In my previous entry we were just heading off for a spot of fishing - it was unbelievable. Myself, Eddie, Kat and Alice reeled in over a hundred fish (not quite sure what they were - bright red, big eyes and suicidal as they were practically jumping into the boat) in the 3 hours we were out and our amazing skipper Maryann cooked a stack of them up on a Barbie on the back of the boat. They had a similar flavour and texture to sea bass and the livers were an absolute treat! We hauled them back and organised for them to be prepared for dinner the following night as the hotel had a BBQ area... and no I didn't get off that lightly as both myself and my eager to learn commis Eddie knocked up a big bowl of mango salsa to go with it which seemed to go down pretty well! The whole experience was awesome... Something that will last a very long time in the memory! We set off from the island this morning with the sun beating down sat on the roof of the boat which again was a pretty special moment : ) A 2 hour bus trip found us in a small quiet colonial style town called Paraty and have spent the afternoon chilling with a book and some tunes. We've just got tomorrow here before undertaking a rather monstrous transfer to Iguassu (met the gap group travelling the route in the opposite direction who we're less than enthusiastic about it) so that should an interesting journey to say the least.

Jane Ching Might have known it would not be long before the chef was cooking up a barbie, but never dreamed it would be a fish supper he had caught himself! Good luck with the journey to Iguassu Al,I am sure it will be worth it. Mum x
Rita Fillmore ALEX!!! Sweetness! My goodness, how excited I was this evening when I saw your name pop up on my phone.. which then died of battery. I tried to call you straight back from my work phone but couldn't get through for ages.. The reason being that you were leaving me a voicemail. How lovely of him I thought! :) 22 minutes and 10 seconds of background noise and random words... it is safe to say, it was your bum calling me! The first of many bum-calls I'm sure over the next six months but beware your phone bill! Lol Anyway, I have finally managed to transfer your blog address from text message to my laptop, added your site as a favourite, managed to naviagte my way around how your blog works and I'm ready to embark on your journey with you :) (after a quick catch up on your last few days that I missed, I'm now ready..) I have enjoyed everything you have enjoyed so far and am glad that it is you and not me having to travel in between places.. Lol On another note, I would like to point out that you are in desperate need of a profile pic as I refuse to look at some grey outline of a head for this length of time! That's your task the very next time you log on! Can't wait for your next update out of Iguassu! Much love, Rita x And here a side note to your mum: Hi Jane, received your package and note today after it apparently was received last Friday when I was off (not exactly the kind of 5 star concierge service you would expect at my hotel Lol) Many thanks for having done this. (Thanks also to Al for the lend and the tunes!) I will send a text tomorrow to confirm receipt, but felt it was rather late by the time I got home this evening. Best wishes, Rita
Rita Fillmore Oh and I have now also successfully subscribed to email updates from Chingers81. Lovely!
Sam Burt Al you will love Iguassu mate, make sure you see it from from both the Brazilian side and the Argentinian side as the Argentinian side kicks arse! Glad to hear you are having a good time and I hope your travelling buddies know how lucky they are having one of London's undiscovered cooking legends! Enjoy!
