We woke up this morning with sheep right outside, I wanted to go and see them so started to walk over, it was only by chance that I noticed there was a thin wire fence around the park, I was going to step over it but then noticed it was connected to an electric power box nearby. So I thought better not to.
When I got back to the camper van Chris was shaving his beard and head outside wearing only his boxers. I told him to put some shorts on in case someone saw him but he didn't care and insisted no one could see him. I still moaned at him away.
We left at 10:30am and drove for just under two hours to Lake Taupo. The scenery was nicer and the roads got quieter as we drove further away from the city. We made it to town by 12:20pm and checked into Great Lake Holiday Park. It was a little bit out of the town but we didn't mind. There was a nice view of the lake and the lady at reception put us on the sunniest plot. By now we were hungry so Chris started cooking lunch while I prepared a salad. As it was such a nice day I said we should eat outside so we set up on a picnic table next to our camper van. We had spicy beef burritos, they were really nice and it made a nice change to sit out in the sun. There was still a cool and fresh breeze in the air but when it dropped the sun was really hot! It was the first time in New Zealand we got away with wearing just a t-shirt, but the heat didn't last for long. As soon as the clouds came over it was freezing again.
We spent the rest of the afternoon chilling out until 5:30pm then used the parks hot tub for half an hour. It was really nice until we had to get out. We dried off as fast as we could then literally ran back to our camper van to get back in the warmth! Then we finished off the burritos from earlier, watched a film and went to bed.
