We were expecting to be woken up at 6:50am again but Edith didn't get us for breakfast until 7:05am. I had eggs and toast this morning instead of just cereal but there still weren't any bloody beans as Chris put it!
It was really nice in the morning so we decided to spend the whole day on the island and leave at 5pm instead of checking out and heading back to the main island early. I was determined to soak up every second of sun I could so we went straight out to sun bath. Chris only managed a few hours before he was bored so after lunch we went to feed the sharks one last time. Chris brought them more fish from the BBQ, the staff must think he is obsessed with eating it, not knowing that he was really giving it to the sharks. The tide was low and there were more sharks than ever! We must have spent about an hour hand feeding them. Chris went into the sea up to his knees while I stayed back a little. The sharks were swimming all around us and there were so many of them, it was hard to keep an eye on all of them. Chris dangled the small pieces of fish in while I held the camera under the water. The sharks thought I had food and kept swimming really close to have a look making me jump and giggle! They were bashing into Chris's legs, he had to curl his toes under the sand at one point when one of them swam up to his feet and bumped his nose into his big toe. He said he didn't fancy losing any of them lol. We got some cool videos and one photo that showed ten sharks in it! Watching Chris have this much fun feeding the baby sharks I wondered how he would be feeding the big bull sharks in the next few days!
Once the fish was all eaten up we went paddle boarding, well we didn't really do much, I was useless again so we just took a couple of photos of me standing up. Then we went kayaking around the island. It only took about fifteen minutes and we got to see a nice view of the small island and the corals below us.
We only had a few hours left before we had to get ready to leave. I sun bathed some more while Chris snuck off and fed the sharks again, he's obsessed with them! When it was time to go Edith came running over with a coconut for Chris to smash open again, this time I made sure I filmed it. He managed to do it but in two hits this time and cut his hand open, it looked painful on the video. Edith gave us a couple of free beers from the bar and we wished her a happy 29th birthday. She panicked and told us to shut up in case anybody heard us, she didn't want anyone on the island knowing it was her birthday.
At 5pm we were just getting onto the transfer boat when suddenly Edith came running across the island carrying both our big heavy back packs! She's one very powerful Fijian woman! She threw them on and we said goodbye one last time and got on the boat. We really enjoyed travelling through the islands and were already missing them. It really wasn't how we expected, lots of backpackers and cheap accommodation. It was really interesting learning about their island culture, we wished we could have stayed even longer.
The ride back to the harbour only took twenty minutes. It wasn't until it was time to get off that we realised we were still bare foot! We had practically been bare foot for the entire time on the islands that it felt normal and we forgot to keep our sandals on us! So we got off and walked along the front to collect our bags while getting the occasional stare from others. We didn't care though, we noticed some others were also bare foot.
We got on the free coach transfer back to Nadi bay and checked back in to Beach Escape Villas for the night. We wanted to know the easiest and cheapest way to Beqa Lagoon tomorrow but no one at the hotel could give us a straight answer, so we're going to go straight to the bus station in the morning and hope we find a bus route from there.
It was getting late now so we sat down for a delicious steak dinner, Chris had marlin and I had a BBQ steak. We both felt baby syndrome afterwards so went back to our room for an early night.
