As we hoped there was a bus heading to Pacific Harbour, it was really busy and had five seats across instead of four like everywhere else! In Asia it made no difference how many seats were in a vehicle, it was always guaranteed to be double the amount of passengers squeezed in. But here the people are bigger and fatter so they can't squeeze in as many people, but it still felt just as cramped. Chris was squished next to a big Indian woman. After an hour and half the bus stopped for twenty minutes at a town. The lady next to him got off and I joined him, he sighed with relief and said he could breath again.
The whole journey took three and a half hours so we arrived at Pacific Harbour at 12:30. We took a taxi straight to Beqa Adventure Divers so we could book our shark diving. It cost 310 Fijian dollars each for two dives which isn't really cheap but we're sure it will be worth the money. Our pick up has been arranged to get us at 7:45 tomorrow morning and we're both really excited about it, we can't wait to go! Then all we had to do was check into a hotel nearby. There didn't seem to be much around though, just a long main road really. On one side of the road was a polluted stream and overgrown trees and bushes. On the other side there were a couple of shops and further down the road we found a large hotel called Tsulu Beach Bunk House, spread out above more shops and restaurants. In front of the hotel complex was a really nice pond filled with hundreds of Lilly pads, it was really pretty. We went in only to be told they were extremely busy and had a group coming tonight but they could accommodate us if we were happy to move rooms three times! We didn't really have much choice so we agreed and booked a private room with shared bathroom for the first night, a dorm tomorrow night and then back into a private room the following night. The private room was actually part of a four bedroom apartment really, with a shared kitchen and living room. It was a shame we couldn't get it for the next three nights as it looked so nice.
We dumped our bags in our room then went straight out for lunch, we were both starving by now and fancied something less Fijian, so we ordered a mahoosive family sized pizza that was fat and greasy and delicious! We added some spring rolls on the side and drinks to wash it all down with. We hadn't eaten since 8am so we really pigged out, and I mean PIGGED OUT! It felt so good until we couldn't stuff in another bite (which has never happened before!). The pizza was so big we couldn't eat the last two slices so instead of leaving them we took them back to our room to devour later.
Later on we took a walk around the shops. I was still annoyed about not getting my sandals back from Wayalailai so we looked for a new pair. I found some really cheap sandals for only 5 Fijian dollars but Chris wouldn't let me buy them. To be honest I'm glad he didn't, they really were a s***ty pair of sandals plus they were orange which is a gross colour so I wouldn't have ended up wearing them anyway. Chris ended up spotting a better black pair in a different shop which fitted perfectly and they were the last ones!
On our way back to our room we passed a hair dressers. I hadn't got my hair cut since April so it needed a trim. I went inside and asked the Fijian guy and lady if they could cut my type of hair. I assumed most their clients had Afro hair but they both smiled and said yes they could, so I took a seat. I knew I may have made a mistake as soon as the lady started combing through it. I had a few little knots that would have come out easily if she used a brush but she made them worse using the comb. She looked confused so got the manager to brush through it. Twenty sweaty minutes later the lady finished trimming a straight line along the bottom with her very blunt scissors. Bless her she looked really nervous. I was too especially with Chris sitting behind pulling terrified faces at me! Then she went to touch the front but I changed my mind. The manager must have realised then that the woman was uncomfortable so he finished it off for her. I thought I was finally in good hands but then we wiped thick wax on my hair from root to tip! Wax! I was too embarrassed to say anything so I let him carry on. The staff were really pleased with themselves so I kept smiling and thanked them. Chris didn't say anything but I knew what he was thinking. I needed to wash that crap out of my hair! So that's exactly what I did. Later on we stayed in watching tv, there was rugby on! We finished off the two slices of pizza from earlier, we were both still really full so didn't need much more than that.
We're both really excited about shark diving tomorrow. Chris is still hoping to hand feed some himself but he will just have to see if they let him.
