It is saturday morning, our last in London and I have been too busy to blog!!
Day one on London
We arrived here on Wednesday afternoon and Rob very kindly hung aroudn for two hours while we did check in and the kids ate dinner and dressed for theatre. Rob then drove us got the theatre which was an unexpected bonus. I was grateful as London is very crowded. I met Emma for dinner and we went and bought the group's underground passes for the duration of our stay. Emma is off to Ireland for a while so she left and I spent an hour mucking around waiting for the show or come out and then
We took the kids back to the yh on the underground. It was very busy and the kids were tired but they did well. They loved the show.
Thursday:
We set out to walk to the Albert memorial and John took kids to the science museum while tennille took kids it the Victoria and Albert museum. I tried to buy sown summer clothes as it is VERY HOT in London .... We must have brought our warm weather with us!! I was unsuccessful. Too rushed... So I hurried to where I was to meet the kids who wanted to explore Hyde park only to find none had made this choice. So I went shopping!! (for an hour) Sarah, I bought you a gorgeous summer skirt from United Colours of Benneton and got myself a t-shirt with short sleeves. That sorted my immediate problem and I met up with the group for a park picnic lunch. Then we caught the tube and went to the Globe theatre.
We were lucky as they were rehearsing for All's Well That Ends Well and we watched a little while so the kids have seen the theater in action. Then our facilitator, Simon took the kids through workshop focussed on Macbeth. It was terrific and even though. They were tired the kids joined in.
After this we walked down to the London Eye and I collected the tickets without incident but again it was very crowded and despite having prebooked, we had to wait in the queue. It moved pretty fast and we were on in half an hour. The kids enjoyed themselves-but I have at least two who have height issues. Despite this they managed well.
We made our way across Westminster bridge and onto the tube it get to the medieval banquet. This was a big hit!!!! We all dressed up. - see other blog for photos- and the kids loved it. After the meal there was dancing and they all joined in so we only left at about 11:00 pm and reached home just before pumpkin time.
