I slept very well again, waking at 6:00am. After a little quiet time I packed up,) showered and had healthy breakfast. Yes, I managed to limit myself to muesli!!!! We then gathered the kids together and had to send the boys back as their room was the predictable shambles... All good fun and not unexpected.
After loading the catch we set out to walk across fields into Bath. Unfortunately the footpath was closed so we missed out on walking along the canal but we took a peek at the footpath and then made our way across Pultney Bridge and on to the fashion museum. We let the kids have
some free time and we set off to shop. Bath has some exquisite little boutiques and I found an unforgettable skirt at an unforgettable price. It was an amazingly good fit but .... relax, I didn't buy it!!! We hd tea at st Michael's church and then returned to the fashion museum and went in with the kids as arranged. They had a special display of wedding dresses which the girls loved and the 'try it on' section intrigued the kids - they were great as they tried everything with enthusiasm. Even the boys got involved. And I have great photos. We then set the kids free for lunch and Tennille, John and I stopped off at a Sushi bar. I have always wanted to try this and Tennille showed us how it worked. I kept my choices healthy. (haha)
We are now our way to Stonehenge.
Stonehenge was extremely hot and very crowded. I bought tickets for everyone, got them in and then found a cool spot to rest in. Stonehenge is not my favourite place in the world!!
We drove on to Salisbury along a beautiful route and arrived at the YH without incident. We checked in and Tennille and I have the room that Eric and I had in 2006. I can hear the cathedral bells! John, Tennille and I went to evensong at the cathedral, leaving Gail to be with the kids who were resting, doing laundry etc. The service was magnificent - much nicer than yesterday at Wells. Salisbury is fast becoming my favorite cathedral . They were filming for a BBC documentary on the cathedral choir.. Added to the fun.
After a brief stroll along the river and through the town, we thought we should return to rescue the kids from
Gail!!! all was quiet and under good control with no blood shed on either side haha.
In a short while we will set out for dinner at the same pub we ate at last time. I ordered fish and now I feel like chicken... pity but I bet the cod will be good. I am going to publish this now so you can keep up with my adventures
